Holiday window cleaning in Central Texas starts much earlier than most people expect. Mason’s busy season begins in the first or second week of September, and holiday calls keep coming in right through New Year. If you want clean glass before family arrives, the short answer is to call now.
When the holiday rush starts
Most people think about the windows a week before guests arrive. By then, the people who planned ahead have already taken most of the slots. From September onward the schedule stays full, and it fills from the front: whoever calls first gets the earliest open day.
There is no rule about booking a certain number of weeks ahead. The sooner you call, the more choice of dates you have.
Last minute and holiday jobs
Every year, a lot of calls come in the day before a holiday asking for the next day. Mason takes those jobs whenever there is room. He came up through the service industry and has worked every holiday, so he works the holidays themselves too, which many cleaners do not.
That said, a last minute slot depends on what is already booked. If the date matters, call or text as early as you can rather than counting on a gap.
What to get done before guests arrive
Windows, inside and out
Inside and outside are both part of a standard clean. After a Texas summer, the outside usually carries sprinkler spots and dust, and the inside carries handprints and pet noses. Tracks, frames and screens make a bigger difference than people expect, because guests notice a dusty sill as much as a streaky pane.
Hard water from the summer
Months of sprinklers leave minerals on the lower panes. Caught within the season, that comes off as part of the clean. Left for another year it starts to bond to the glass. There is more on this in hard water stains on windows in Central Texas.
Gutters after the leaves drop
Most trees around here drop their leaves in the autumn, and a gutter packed with leaves overflows the first time the winter rain comes in. Live oaks are the odd one out and drop their leaves in April, so a house under live oaks needs a spring clean too. See gutter cleaning for what is included.
Siding, walkways and the front entry
The front of the house is the first thing guests see. Soft washing lifts mold, mildew and lime off siding, stone and brick, and house washing takes care of the walkways and the entry.
What Mason does not do
Mason does not hang Christmas lights, wreaths or decorations. The work is windows, gutters, soft washing and house washing, and nothing else. If you need help with other jobs around the house, he knows people who do them and can point you in the right direction.
Common questions
When should I book window cleaning before the holidays?
As early as you can. Holiday calls start in the first or second week of September and keep coming through New Year, and the schedule stays full. There is no minimum notice, and the first person to call gets the earliest open slot.
Can I book a window cleaning the day before a holiday?
Often, yes. Plenty of people call the day before a holiday for the next day, and Mason takes those jobs whenever the schedule has room. He also works the holidays themselves, which many cleaners do not. Calling earlier is still the safer bet.
Do you hang Christmas lights, wreaths or decorations?
No. Mason cleans windows, gutters and siding and does soft washing and house washing. He does not hang lights, wreaths or decorations, but he knows people who do other jobs around the house and can point you to them.
Should gutters be cleaned before winter in Central Texas?
Usually, yes. Most trees here drop their leaves in the autumn, so a clean after they fall keeps the gutters clear for winter rain. Live oaks are the exception and drop their leaves in April, so homes under live oaks need a spring clean as well.
Is the inside of the glass included?
Yes. Inside and outside are both part of a standard clean, which is what matters before guests arrive, since they see the glass from inside the house.
The short version
Holiday window cleaning season starts in September and runs to New Year, and the schedule stays full the whole time. Call as early as you can, ask for the inside and outside, and add the gutters once the leaves are down. If it is the day before a holiday, call anyway, because Mason takes those jobs when there is room.
